The situation
A person is found on the floor of their room during the night. They say they slipped getting to the bathroom. They appear uninjured, observations are unremarkable, and they are supported back to bed.
The next morning they are in pain and cannot weight-bear. They are admitted to hospital and diagnosed with a fractured hip.
The family have not yet been told about the fall overnight.
In a real situation, clinical need comes first: seek urgent medical advice or emergency help where the person's condition requires it, and follow your service's post-fall protocol.
